Elect, Election
Here
is a quote from a Calvinist, "Some
in time are given faith by God and others are not given faith proceeding from
His eternal decree" It is simple
to quote one Scripture, and disregard others on the same subject.” Using this approach that the Calvinist uses,
we can say that the Bible teaches anything we wish. We are suppose to rightly
divide the Word of truth. Let's look at
some other Scripture in regard to this subject; Romans 12:3 For through
the grace given to me I say to every man among you not to think more highly of
himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as
God has allotted to each a measure of faith.
Again
lets look at another Calvinistic quote;
"These God out of His most free, most just, blameless, and
unchangeable good pleasure has decreed to leave in the common misery into which
they have by their own fault plunged themselves" Now lets compare this philosophy with the
Bible, John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He
gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but
have eternal life. And 2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is
patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to
repentance. What is meant by
"others are not given faith proceeding from His eternal decree" Could
it be that the persons that believe this don't own a Bible? Or, perhaps they can't read! The Devil loves this kind of theology.
The
Arminians held to a conditional election, the election of those who
believe. (The Arminians obviously read
the Bible!)
